The WoodZymes 36-month consortium meeting was held online last 25-26 May 2021. With only 6 months left before concluding the project this was an important moment to discuss the final work that needs to be carried out in order to achieve our objectives!
A lot of results were presented by partners, who have made significant efforts to overcome the restrictions and related hurdles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, important advancements have been made during these months on testing the extremozymes developed in the project in different applications, such as kraft pulp bleaching and the valorization of the underutilized side-streams of this widely extended pulping process. The focus is now in the pilot trials, aiming to validate the promising results obtained at lab scale, as well as in the techno-economic and environmental evaluation of the new processes.
Our main results and outcomes will be presented to the public at the WoodZymes Final Workshop, to be held in November, 4th 2021, with participation of other BBI JU projects also dealing with lignocellulose valorization. Stay tuned to know more information on this event very soon!
